For a cooker I'd always go for gas.

If you are having a separate oven, hob and hood, I'd choose electric oven with a gas/induction hob.

we have electric oven and gas hob

I had a gas oven many moons ago but electric is so much better. I have a gas hob.

I have electric cooker & gas hob. Gas hobs are full of grease traps though, induction/ceramic/whatever - the dead flat ones anyway - must be sooo easy to clean (but I've no idea how responsive they are compared with gas)

electric oven I mean, not cooker - it's a built-under one

I am still not sure as I am in council renting it will have to be all gas cooker or all elctric as the kitchen is new and I cannot change it.

I'd go all gas then Mandy, the rings are so much better and the oven heats up quickly. The only downside is that you might have to turn food in the oven to cook it evenly

Electric oven, gas hob.

I tried to cook on my friend's electric hob the other day and I've no idea how anyone does it. You have to be able to see 5 minutes into the future to know when to turn it down/up.

Gas hob and gas oven - electric is too slow!

Ponders · 26/02/2011 17:00

Induction hob is instant and easy to clean.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/02/2011 16:38

Induction Hob and a gas oven. My yorkshires never work in electric ovens.

Love the gas hob for intant control, cleaning isn't a problem for me as I don't make a mess! An oven has to be electric - fan of course - much better heat distribution. I have a double oven - I just love it and waited 10 years to get one.
