Pictures on the stairs?

Our new house has quite a big open staircase, which turns twice.*

I keep thinking about whether to put pictures on the stairs, but I can't work out how to do it.

Do I choose a measurement and align the bottom of each picture to the step it is above? Like flying ducks?

Or... what? It could look nice I think, but am a bit unsure how to do it.

* By "turns twice" I mean you go up a bit, then the stairs curve round and you turn 90 degrees to your right and go up a bit more and then it curves again and you do the last steps walking back the way you came.

We have this! I have two pictures on one side, then 2 on the other. all are 10x10 square and they are stepped up from each other but not in lines with the steps, I just did at a height that felt right. They are the same distance from each other on both sides though, does that make sense? Eg (havent measured it but) if the pictures are 10cm apart on the wall going up the stairs, then they are also 10cm apart on the other opposite wall.

Ah- I misread your OP, I'm sorry- our staircase only turns once (so you walk up, then turn and walk up the remaining steps facing in the opposite direction.)

I`ve wondered about doing this with pictures of the DCs getting older as you go upstairs-never got round to it but it might work?

Ahh - I couldn't get what you meant until your second post worryingtrend. I getcha now. I think for that idea to work on my stairs I would need 6 pictures of comparable size (two, two and two on each wall) - not matching, but not too clashing either. It might look a bit contrived. Not sure.

Hearts - yeah - lots and lots of photos. I keep getting back to that thought... but I Think I want to work out a way of doing it with pictures. I do like the lots of pictures look though - a friend has done it and it looks fab.
