Rug or mat to put shoes on?

We are moving to a new house with cream carpets and I have decided that it will be a no shoes house (I may have to beat DH and hide his shoes, but I am determined). So we need something next to the front door to put shoes on. It needs to not mark the carpet underneath. Any ideas?

Good idea. We have a no shoes rule in the house and it really makes a difference.

We have a PVC backed mat by the door which is good for wet shoes to be put on while they dry off. We have another one under the stairs where soes are stored to save the floor from dirt.

Shoe racks are a good idea to keep things tidy.
