I don't know, my old one used to do the same. Luckily it stopped working just before Xmas! (-:

The only dishwasher tablets that always dissolve for me are Fairy. The rest (including v expensive Finish ones) end up all mushy in the bottom of the dishwasher.

my waitrose tablets don't dissolve all the time. The only things which really work are those sort of gel capsules like fairy platinum etc, but i cannot afford those unless they are on offer.

Cheap shops like B&M sometimes have Fairy capsules, I always stockpile them. The last offer was 60 for £6.99.

BinJeeta · 22/02/2011 18:20

that is really good value durham. what is b and m?

DurhamDurham · 22/02/2011 18:25

I'm in the NE and it's achain of cheap shops. I think it's part of the same company as Home Bargains. Not sure if they are national or just regional.

ethelina · 22/02/2011 18:26

The usual reason is the water isnt hot enough to dissolve the tablet, either because an "eco" program is used, or its all scaled up in the pipes.

Tablets aren't able to cope with washes less than 50c minimum, even posh branded ones.

You could try using powder instead, with separate rinse aid and salt.

BinJeeta · 23/02/2011 06:20

I am down south so maybe that is why i have not seen b and m.

Ethel - yes i have been using an eco wash with my tabs, maybe i should crank it up whilst i use up these tabs and see if i have better luck.

I use cheapo cheapo tesco or sainsburys ones that are £1.75 for 30!

I only do a 30 min wash and find if I put them in the soap dispenser they don't dissolve.

I just throw them in the bottom of the machine and switch on and they seem to do fine.
