I want to dye my sofa...

...But I'm clueless as to how to do it/whether it's a good idea!

It's cream and has removable, washable-at-40 covers. The material is a sort of cross between towelling and velvet (I can't describe it any better than that!) so a little bit fuzzy.

If I buy Dylon or something similar and do it in the machine, will it work? And what colours might work on cream: ie if I try for pale-ish blue will it just come out greeny?

Thanks!

you need to know the fabric content of the covers. dylon is for 100% cotton, if the fabric has any nylon, polyester or wool in it, the dye won't take.

I'm your woman! I did mine last week and am very chuffed with it, despite the rather random result (I'm claiming it was intentional obviously).

Mine was 100% cotton so the dye was ok, any synthetics won't take the dye.

The cushions have come out very well, but the whole back part of the cover, ie. back of sofa and armrests which was all one bit, was too big for the machine (the instructions said the machine mustn't be more than half full) so it has come out tie-dye in parts (but it looks quite cool).
