You know those foam mats that fit together? How do you clean them?

The ones that fit like a jigsaw, sometimes with the alphabet on. I'm asking for a playgroup I help at, the mats are all quite grubby. We tried just wiping them but it didn't do much!
I did think of using the dishwasher?!
Or would a mop be enough?
Any suggestions welcome!

Mop gets most of it off once in a blue moon I get down on my hands and needs and give them a scrub. I would never put them in a dishwasher

At work i tend to give them a good scrub with a cloth and some disenfectant spray. A work mate of mine mops them.

Scrubbing was getting off surface dirt but they still looked grubby. Might be unavoidable.

I put mine through the dishwasher. Come up like new.
