Have you ever fitted your own carpet?

Am thinking about changing son's bedroom carpet as the one he has in there isn't nice at all - far too dark for the tiny room that it is.

I think we might be able to get a cheap off-cut for it, as it is so small a room, and it is very nearly square.

So, have you or anyone you know, done this?

If it works in this room I would be inclined to do my own bedroom which again is nearly square but with a chimney breast.

Yes, in the bathroom and loo. I took the old one out onto the back lawn and put it on top of the new one as a template, cut it out and just lay it down. Didnt bother with carpet strip thingies along the edges, just lay it down, smoothed edges and it was perfect Grin

I have just laid 4 carpets Grin
my bedroom, the dcs bedrooms and the living room.

I unrolled it and then cut it as I laid it.

Clever girls! So, it can be done.

I particularly like your idea, lovesdogs. I think we might give this a go...my mum has done it, but she's superwoman.

yes, I did the bathroom at my old house, it was a very small room, but a very awkward shape. I impressed myself with the good job I did!

After a couple of weeks I stuck the edges down with double sided sticky tape type stuff as the vacuum cleaner kept trying to eat it.
