foodwarmer/ hotplate

Have a biggish party coming up and I am doing a buffet. Want to enjoy the party without having to pop into the kitchen to heat up the nibbles/ food. The plan is to cook in advance, pop the stuff in disposable aluminium trays on an electric foodwarmer and let people help themselves as and when.
Has anyone used an electric foodwarmer and can recommend any? Would need one that can take at least 3-4 large dishes. A quick google search shows alot of tealight ones - not sure how good they are?

Also, will it make the food go dry ?

I don't know about hotplate, I assume you mean a small table top one, not the 70s classic hostess trolley?

What about slow cookers as an alternative? Depends what you're cooking obviously, but curries, chillies etc. would be ideal.

Failing that, this looks good, but don't know what quantities the dishes would hold.

Thanks CeliaFate, yes I did mean the tabletop one. Will post a link, am sure I saw one online...just wanted to know if anyone has actually used it.
