old "vintage" chesterfield sofas

we have been given a 3 piece suit - in red, chesterfield -

I kind of like them, they would be more suited if we lived in an older cottage / house but at the moment we are in a modern new build!!

I would like some ideas to make them seem less old musty pub and more funky vintage / stylish

also, whats best to clean them with??

i have a funky ethnic throw over the seat cushions of mine, mainly cos the dog gets up there

cleaning?? If i have the hoover out I use the brushy crevice end to sook the dust from around the buttons and I swoosh the crumbs from under the cushions when I straighten the funky ethnic throw dog's blanket.

You are very lucky. I'd love one

depending on your style

That wasn't the right link! There were some red, vintage union jack style cushions somewhere on that site.

we have a union jack cushion on ours. you can buy leather wipes in supermarket cleaning aisle and we also got leather cream from john lewis which is waiting unopened in the cupboard for when the kids leave home and i sudeenly have the time......Grin

also, apparenlty the best thing for them is saddle soap (as in horse saddle soap)- living in london i would have to buy it on the internet.

Clean it with a little moisturizing hand wash in warm water, then saddle soap.

we used to leather clean ours before xmas every year but since the twins came along two years ago we havent done it as it has to be not sat on for 24hrs and we now have four young children (6, 5 and 2y) we never have the time but i do babywipe it and have had a quick go with the sadle soap.
we have two three seaters and a single chair we bought from an auctions over 7 years ago they have seen alot of mess and sick over the years but are still lovely condition.
i also use the hoover on the button holes as they are always full of crumbs.
