I've just gotten some pure essential tea tree oil from holland and barrett's. Couldn't find the spray bottle so I applied it neat (wearing gloves) to the black spots on the silicone that lines the bath tub in the bathroom but its been more than an hour now and the black spots do not seem to be disappearing at all!

Does it mean the tea tree oil isn't working on them? What else can I use other than bleach?

Bleach is the only thingthat got rid of the black stuff behind my bath taps

Agree that bleach works - never heard of Tea tree oil killing it - didn't know it had those properties. Let is know if it does work.

I usually use milton. Cleans most of it off the silicone but beware sometimes the mould gets inside the silicone and wont come off. Not sure how it manages that though.

I use dettol mould and mildew remover which is in a spray bottle.

I think tee tree is an anti-bac, not an anti fungal so I doubt it would work.

Either bleach or specialist mould and mildew remover will work. It is horrible stuff but they seem to be the only things that work.

I read that bleach doesn't kill mold at all, it just changes its colour cosmetically, and I will use bleach to bleach out the unsightly mold colouration but want to try and kill off the mold first.

I am looking for a proper mould killer. I found one in B&Q but its ammonia-based and seems to only be for outdoor use.

Was disappointed that tea tree oil didn't work. Have bought a bottle of Sarson's distilled vinegar from Ocado now and when it arrives I will try it.
