Flour storage?

PippiL · 14/02/2011 11:20

I've started buying my flour straight from the mill near me as its so much cheaper.

It comes in a 7.5kg bag. What can I store this in?

Most "tupperware" boxes look like the wrong sort of shape (square). I need something fairly upright, but with a big enough opening that I can get a scoop in there.

Any ideas

I'm thinking some sort of pet food storage!

Ooo il keep an eye on this as i recently started buying in bulk too and dont like just storing it in the bag in the bottom cupboard.

I was thinking some kind of large pouring tub from pet shop too, should imagain they will seal up quite well as they are designed to keep doggy biscuits fresh.

Decant a couple of pounds into a container then refill as needed?
No idea what to put the big bag in though.

Mmm, the big bag is a problem as I can't even fold the top over properly! Worried about weevils!

Was thinking of this

but the cost will ofset my savings on the price of the flour :-(

What about a small swing bin? In my HE class at school all floor was stored in dustbins (new, clean ones obviously!)

Keep weevils away by storing in airtight tubs in the freezer!

Something like this I have a couple that I've picked up from various supermarkets/plastic box shops, they have only been a few pounds.

One of those plastic bins that has a lid that clips on? They look a bit like a minature dustbin.

If you have a dog, Eukanuba occasionally do a freebie of a very large tin with a lid (obviously designed for dog food storage but good for any dry food). I haven't seen this offer for a while, though.
