Finally having to admit we need a new kettle but I want a nice one this time, not a cheapy whilte plastic thing!

So which one do you have and is it any good? What have you had in the past and would avoid.

Thanks!

will watch with interest as current kettle is leaking
seems they always do leak in the end

greenlotus · 13/02/2011 18:42

Boring but we have this one, after ditching the latest in a succession of leakers, it is genuinely good for small quantities and seems to be plastic lined so perhaps less likely to leak.

greenlotus · 13/02/2011 18:42

PS I was going to post same question before we got it last month but thought nobody would answer!

I have a kettle with an inbuilt Brita filter. It is great as I drink black tea/coffee and cannot stand to have that floaty scum thing on the top. I live in a hard water area so this works well, but if you have soft water you wouldnt need this.

It all depends on your budget and style, you can get a kettle for £5 in Asda or spend £80 on an Alessi one.

The Delonghi one is excellent and looks very stylish.

This baby although I have the shiny version.

Notice the TWO YEAR guarantee.

I am the queen of leaking kettles, and this IS the answer to your prayers.

Shallishanti · 13/02/2011 19:08

how long have you had it tho?
two years is NOT long enough for a kettle to last, imo
built in obsolence or what

catinthehat2 · 13/02/2011 19:10

agree - but I didn't see a longer gtee when I bought it

felicity10 · 13/02/2011 19:13

Magimix, looks great and er...boils water well!

felicity10 · 13/02/2011 19:15

Oh and not sure if still on but was a special offer with the toaster in house of fraser.

Needanewname · 13/02/2011 19:40

Wow I wasn't expecting such quick responses to my dull question!

Jax - budget really depends on what people recommend and how good they say it is - we currentlyt have the cheap £5 type and I hate it and now its leaking everywhere. I now want a grown up nice looking kettle Grin
