Dishwasher not working!!!!

Anyone got a clue how to fix a dishwasher? It started making a funny noise a few hours after the cycle had finished. Sounds like the pump is going (like at end of cycle), but it won't stop.
I've tried turning it off at wall then leaving it for a while and turning back on again, but the same happens.
I've tried turning the dial to start a wash cycle, but that doesn't work either. Just keeps pumping.

Any ideas?

2 tricks I have, which may in no way relate to your dishwasher, but continue to keep mine going, but here they are:

If salt hole is full of water (and little or no salt)use turkey baster to suction out and refill with salt (even if you are using tabs with salt in it makes a difference with my machine)

No 2, try running the hot tap nearest to machine, so in my case kitchen sink, until water is hot and steady flowing, before turning on d/w

With my machine use have to hold the 'on' button down for a few mins to resest, if starts making funny noises.

As I say don't know if these will help but might be worth a try.

it's a Beko.

Thank you 3seater. Salt hole full of water. Will try your tricks and see. Does it have to be special dishwasher salt? I usually use the all in one tablets.

It is definaalty the pump going. I took out the filter at the bottom to clean it and check (sometimes there is water in here). I poured in a jug of water, closed the door again, and it was all pumped out.

I have a Miele that is making noises after finishing and I'm told that means the waterproof system has been activated. I'm currently waiting for an engineer to come and fix it this week at vast cost.

I've always used the dishwasher salt to remedy probs, which is a pain when you use the all in one tabs.
