For those on a water meter....

Please can you tell me how much you pay per month?

We are a family of four, two adults and two young children. We don't use excessive water and are careful in my opinion.

We pay £40 per month which I think is a lot.

Just wondered how we compare?

Thanks

Another Three Valleys/Veolia.
2 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs.

£16 a month.

We are with Severn Trent, and just moved to a newly built flat with a water meter. 2 adults and one teenager and just now are paying £30 a month

I think when it was set up, the woman said it could be £25 but we wanted to pay £30 to give us a bit of slack just in case

Husband has bath more or less every day, myself and my daughter have showers, load of washing every day, and no dishwasher

When I empty the water bottle from the tumble drier, I put it in a clean drink bottle and use that for other stuff! I wear contacts so keep a smaller bottle in the bathroom to rinse out my case, and to dilute the fabric softener in the washing machine

£18.50 p/m in Southern Water
1 child & 1 adult

£31/month in Yorkshire.

Two adults and two children. Always use half load on washing machine and dishwasher.

We are in South East and get separate bills for supply of fresh water and waste/sewage service.
We've only recently got the meter but the first bills, for just over two and half months, were £30 for fresh water but a whopping £50 for the waste!
We are 2 adults 1 child so i'm guessing we would be £30 - £40 a month

South west water. It's got a social tariff for those on certain benefits with a medical need for additional water or 3 of more children is £45 per month.

Luckily we qualify as DS has Medical need otherwise we would paid about £55 per month and we are tight with water!

Got a bill a couple of days ago, £161 1/2 year, that makes £26.83 per month.

2 adults and 2 young children.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/02/2011 20:08

£35 a month, non-metered.

We use gallons I am sure, 2 power showers + 1 deepish bath every day. Washing machine once or twice a day, dishwasher twice a day. I'm at home with DS so lots of loo flushing etc.

I'm glad we aren't on a meter reading this!

We are 50 a month and have no dishwasher...in Cheshire.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 13/02/2011 20:11

Can you get off the metre? It seems cheaper?

Think once it is in you are stuck. All houses built after a certain date (early 90's iirc) would have one already installed.
