John Lewis Kitchens - what is the difference in their ranges?

I spoke to a John Lewis kitchen salesman today and he said that there 3 levels of kitchens offered at John Lewis. Entry level, medium range and very expensive - i.e. Alno. However, looking at the list price there doesn't seem to be that much difference between their medium range and Alno. I'm just wondering what appreciable difference there is between the ranges? If you get the entry level range do you notice much difference in quality and if so how? Is Alno really much better than the medium level range offered by John Lewis? TIA

I got a quote for the medium range and for alno and alno was about £6 or£7000 more. Quality of medium range is good but more variety of unit types in alno - I mean heights, internal drawers etc, not external finishes, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference looking at them. Went for the medium range and delighted with it. Meant I could afford a fancier worktop. Would thoroughly recommend JL kitchen service, by the way.

Hi Lizzywishes Thanks very much for your post. We're thinking of going for a medium range kitchen with a Corian work surface. It's all very exciting - have never been able to plan my own kitchen before.

We were going to get a corian work surface once but was told you can't put anything hot on it, which seems pretty pointless in a kitchen (we got a corian splashback instead). Check that info with the kitchen people before you order.

Thanks Plumm. That's interesting - I thought Corian could cope with up to 180 degrees C.

I got corian and I LOVE it! You can get a row of metal rods set into it by the hob for really hot pans(they lift out for cleaning ) otherwise it seems fine with other slightly hot things. It's really easy to clean and looks fabulous. Get it with an integrated moulded sink, they look great and are so easy to wipe down. Also had it run up onto the splash back. Was my first new kitchen too - very exciting!

Glad you love the Corian Lizzy. I saw the integrated moulded sink and thought it looked really good.
