how the hell do i clean vomit off a sisal carpet?

it's sunk down into the grooves and fibres of the carpet.

tried scraping it up with a knife, kitchen roll and a sponge with bio detergent but its just mashing the puke further into the carpet, and it still stinks

what kind of idiot landlord puts sisal carpet down in a rental property???

You need lots of water (then lots of rubbing with a towel afterwards) a soft-ish brush and lots or patience.

DD had a bum explosion all over my chinese carved wool rug. I have to scrape it out of all the carved out shape bits with a butter knife once I had gone over the general area with a cloth.

i'll try that, it will have to be the washing up brush!

just need to get the smell out as we're replacing it with normal, sensible carpet soon.

After you have scraped it all up. Shake bicarbonate of soda over it and let it dry in for a while then vacuum - if still smelly -repeat. Haven't used this on sisal but has worked for me on other carpets (neutradol powder also works)

Use a washing up brush and the foam from carpet cleaner/washing up bubbles - you don't want to get it too wet coz it'll never dry out!!
