We want a good quality kitchen but we've no idea who is a good company as we've never had to do this before what with living in married quarters until a year ago!

What sort of price range (just shoestring, money no object or somewhere in the middle if you don't want to give figures). And what area are you in? Not sure I can help but think it might help your search to give a little more info.

In the middle, not ridiculous but not shoestring either! We are in Wiltshire.

I got my kitchen units from Howdens. I had quotes from 2 others. Not cheap, but also not top of the range ridiculous prices.
2 years later I am still happy with it - of course, it depends on your fitter too and I had used my fitter previously with my bathroom (the Bath Store).

I've got one from John Lewis, mid- price in their range. It's fabulous and the service, installation etc was spot on. Got all the appliances from them too, so they coordinated electrician etc. I just had to sort some re-plastering (easy as builders were on site). Got flooring elsewhere but could have done that with JL too and sure they would have coordinated it all.
