Will the Aussie customs think I am drug smuggling if I clean my sofa?

please don't flame me! I'm not well known for my tidyness, but although I do try hard to keep everywhere in my house clean I have two dogs. Who are allowed to sit on the sofas. Blush

So, am about to move to Australia and am busy super cleaning the things that are going to be shipped (Aussie customs being mega strict apparently).

The question is, I have a leather sofa that I cannot dismantle, but I know is full of rubbish (because you can hear it falling around inside when you tip it over) Blush Blush.

Do I slit the bottom of the sofa (not leather) so that I can vacuum out the crap detritus and then gaffer tape the whole up. I am worried that customs might think it's an elaborate method for smuggling (which it isn't, obv).

So much shame and Blush in one post. May have to lie down for a little while (on nasty dirt filled sofa natch)

When we came to NZ, we slit ours, and then didn't tape it back up until after it had cleared customs.

I too am a dirty bertie, obv.

Yes, definitely clear it out. That is the sort of thing they will find and then fine you.
