Hi, I would just like to ask a quick question!

When altering curtains - do you do it from the top or the bottom?

Thanks

The botton, if you do it from the top you have to take the heading tape off and then stitch it back on. Smile

From the bottom is easier - I pin the hem and/or tack while they are still in place, cut if necessary then sew hem by hand so almost invisible.

I agree with shodatin, if poss' the hem should be handstitched. Machined hems are a 'no no'. Despite my best efforts in getting my daughter interested in sewing she hemmed her curtains with that sticky hem stuff, looked good as well Grin

With new curtains the quickest and easiest way is to do them at the top because machine sewing is usually quicker.

I was always taught ..from the top every time! I think it's because if they are lined then you don't muck that up too. If unlined then probably easier to do from bottom.

From the top if you have a sewing machine and are happy to rip off the heading tape and sew the old, or new tape back on.

From bottom if you don't and you're not or they are tab top or have meatal eyelet top's.
