Just wondering. I have always secretly wanted one.

I have one but it is in storage in aonther country.
I love love love it when i have it.
As i'm not much of tea drinker i use coffee bags. it's really great if you have to be up very early on the weekend. the fact that the alarm clock has made you a coffee in bed makes the 5:30 am start on a sunday much better.

god now i've realise how much i miss it!

BoffinMum · 21/01/2011 20:21

We are on our third. It is a lifesaver!

Emo76 · 21/01/2011 20:23

I would like one but can't work out how the milk wouldn't go funny overnight!

RobynLou · 21/01/2011 20:24

I do and I love it so very very much!

it has a button on it that just says TEA NOW in big capital letters - that's got to be the best 'emergency' button in the world Smile

Grockle · 21/01/2011 20:24

Ooo, maybe I shall investigate further!

oh and the milk doesn't go funny overnight, only on the hottest summer nights is that a problem.

RobynLou · 21/01/2011 20:26

look on ebay...

and I think argos do them, but for real retro granny chic I'd go for ebay, that's where mine came from!

MarionCole · 21/01/2011 20:32

My parents have had one for about 40 years (not the same one!) They love it. I was going to buy one, but DH thinks they're a waste of money and has undertaken to bring me a brew every morning instead, so I can't complain Grin

TheProvincialLady · 21/01/2011 20:38

I had one when I was a student, that I had bought in a charity shop. It had the loudest alarm I have ever heard - which I needed, as I seldom got to bed before 4am - and if I used the teamaking facility (for my boyfriend....I hate hot drinks), it squirted boiling water all over the bed. Which worked very well as an extra alarm facility.

Pointless but true.

crazymum53 · 22/01/2011 15:07

I have seen a new one advertised in the latest Lakeland catalogue - maybe they're due for a comeback!

greenlotus · 23/01/2011 21:05

We had one for an (unlisted) wedding present, we thought it was for old fuddies and gave it away. Regretted it ever since! What wouldn't I do for a cuppa in the morning.

Hulababy · 23/01/2011 21:07

No, but I was looking at them the other day and they seem like a good idea these days. It is a sign I am getting old(er) I think!

greenlotus · 23/01/2011 21:12

Help me out here. Can you set them up to make one cup of tea and one cup of coffee? (DH and I fundamentally incompatible in this matter). Do they just boil the water or put it on the teabag for you?

RobynLou · 23/01/2011 21:13

mine boils the water, in doing so the water goes from the metal 'kettle' to the ceramic 'teapot' I put tea in the teapot, but if you just left it empty you'd have hot water and so could then do the coffee/tea in the cups...

Hellebore1 · 24/01/2011 12:05

I had one many many years ago, it was wonderful to wake up to a fresh cup of tea each morning. However, my dog, Bella, who used to sleep in her bed in the corner of the bedroom was less impressed. You see the kettle thing starts boiling and making a noise before the alarm goes off. Clearly she mistook the bubbling and gurgling as a threat which prompted her to start howling. Not the calmest way to wake up. No amount of reassurance from us would stop her so it had to go!!Sad
I had long since forgotten about it until reading this post, since Bella went to the big kennel in the sky many years ago, I am going to have a look on Ebay for another. Hellebore1

my in-laws bought us one for our 10th wedding anniversary and handed it to us with the comment"we're surprised that you have managed to last 10 years!!"THANKS GUYS

TrillianAstra · 24/01/2011 12:13

No but my coffee machine is on a timer.

danebury · 24/01/2011 15:46

I'd be lethal with that. I need one that gets me up, goes downstairs, feeds cats and dog and throws the dog out, makes the packed lunches and then shouts repeatedly at the children to get up.

This would just encourage me to stay in bed. Very tempting though!

belledechocchipcookie · 24/01/2011 15:49

Can't you just get a Tassomo? Full the water tank up before you go to bed, put the pod in, push the button and it's done!

belledechocchipcookie · 24/01/2011 15:49

tassimo

LoveInAColdClimate · 24/01/2011 16:56

We had one but it broke. Loved it, though, should get another really!
