Washing velour

DD has some cute velour outfits. I have washed them - normal 40 degree wash and hung them out to dry but they aren't nearly as soft as they were. Any ideas?

Tumble dry, i was cautious at first and put them on a low heat but they are fine just chucked in on a standard setting and so, so soft.
