Can I stack a fridge and a freezer?

The freezer part of my fridge freezer has died, so I'm going to have to replace the whole thing. Ideally I'd like to have two separate units so that if anything happens again I don't have to chuck a whole combo, and will have somewhere to store food while I sort it.

I only have floor space for one though. I've seen them stacked before, so can I just buy two separates and stack them? Would they have to be the same brand? Or are there some specifically stackable ones for sale?

Thanks! :)

My brother has had his stacked for years now. I don't think there was anything special about them in terms of being specifically stackable.

Tha only problem I have (not them as they are used to it!) is that the freezer is on the top and fridge at the bottom and I always go to the wrong bit!! Grin
