Doormat recommendations?

I need some better doormats for the back door, it's in the utility room so they don't need to be pretty, just good at getting the dirt/mud off shoes, boots and cat paws....

Outside, I've currently got a coir type mat sat on top of a rubber mat (I find this helps the coir one getting too soggy with rainwater) which is pretty good for getting the mud off my boots when I've been digging in the garden.
Inside, I've just got a normal kind of mat, but was wondering about getting one of the dirt trapper mats - do they really work?

Inside, I have got a washable mat from tesco extra (few £'s only).
Looks similar to the dirt trapper ones but thinner backing and far, far easier to fold into washing machine.
Have just replaced ours (after it froze to the floor of the utility room in the cold weather, and died)
The previous one lasted four years of three muddy under eights and their muddy friends, and many, many washes.

Turtle mats are really good, we've got dogs who come in with wet muddy paws and us in and out in wellies and they are very absorbent, even though thin and machine washable at 60 which is good for killing germs.

Turtle Mat have a sale on at the moment too. Only a few designs but makes the prices a bit more reasonable.

Turtle mats sound good, do you just have the regular mats or the specific "pet" mats? (I have 2 cats with muddy paws)

Turtle mats are also sold on line. Superb customer service - they had a data base snafu recently and e-mailed me to confim someone else's order(!!). I called them, out of hours, the person I spoke to passed the problem onto someone at head office who called me back next morning and sent me a free mat for the (very minor) inconvenience. I was very impressed!
