Seebo Animal - any good?

I currently have a Dyson DC 25 and hate it with a passion. The ball feature makes it easy to move around but it doesn't pick anything up and doesn't seem to brush the dirt out of the carpet at all. If I hoover over a thread or sock fluff it will still be there when I pull the hoover back.
Before the Dyson I had a Seebo and found it brilliant. I only changed because after 15 years it was beginning to fall apart.
I feel a fool for falling for the Dyson hype - like the Emperor's New Clothes I feel.
Has anyone got a Seebo Animal? Does it pick up thread, dog hair, sock fluff etc. Is the hose long and easy to use (unlike the Dyson). Is the cable long enough to move around with the hoover?
Honest opinions welcomed. Sorry for long and dull post.

Hello

I have the Sebo Animal and love it. Picks everything up (hair, cotton wool, fluff and more recently pine needles)

Long lead, smooth action, easy to steer about.

Would highly recommend.

(also a previous dyson owner)

We have the Sebo K1 Komfort with the Turbo brush, bought on the recommendation of a cleaner friend who would never have anything other than Sebo and it is FABULOUS (and I hate cleaning). It's light, extremely well-designed, very easy to manoeuvre, actually holds dust rather than puffing it out, long cord, pulls in the cord nicely when you push the button, adjustable power, attachments which do the job they're supposed to, has lasted many years and still works like new. Sorry can't comment on the Sebo Animal - I find compact vacuums much lighter and easier than uprights (and the Sebo extends nicely so you don't have to stoop) - but agree, go back to Sebo, there is no comparison.

Thank you - I am finding it hard to justify the expense of a new hoover so soon after buying the dyson but I think it will have to be done. Even after a lengthy hoover the carpets don't really look clean and I know my old Sebo would have whizzed over it and left it pristine in seconds.

I just have to break the news to dh now - I suspect he won't be so easily convinced Hmm

I have just ordered it on dh credit card Blush Fingers crossed he will be so pleased with the cleanliness that he won't mind as much Grin

The build quality is worth the money as it will last. I have a Sebo cylinder - best!

Nanny0gg · 13/01/2011 23:01

Love it - easiest cleaner to use and empty that I've ever had.
Hate Dysons with a passion.

We have the Sebo Felix and it's fab on cat hair - would highly recommend!

Im looking for a new vacuum at the moment and dont know where to start - i was thinking about a Henry as the Miele and Sebos are far too much for me. thanks

SparkyToo · 16/01/2011 11:22

I have a Sebo X1 and it's been going for about 11 years now - it's been good. Recently did some building work and the builders and decorators all seem to use Henry's for large chunks of rubble and dust and I thought it really good. But think Sebo is easier to take up and down stairs and use for general housework.

feedme · 16/01/2011 14:49

can't comment on the animal, but my Sebo Felix is the best vacuum cleaner I've had

motheroftwoboys · 18/01/2011 17:25

I have recently got a Sebo upright - having always had Miele cylinders. And I LOVE it! The carpets look so much better. I always thought an upright would take up too much space but in fact it is better.

Carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2011 21:53

It has arrived. I had already hoovered with the dreaded Dyson but had to try it out. The carpet changed colour before my eyes! The bag was 1/3 full after the first hoovering of the house! Shock It has calmed down now but what a difference - and the tube and turbo brush for the stairs are amazing.
Thanks everyone for encouraging me. I know it is a bit saddo but it is already saving us a lot of hassle. Grin
