How do organise your chargers and power leads

I'm drowning in them but can never find the right lead/charger and after yet another arguement with dh last night because he couldn't find his mobile charger I've decided something needs to be done. So where do you put them so you can find the right one and how do store them so they don't get in a tangled mess. TIA

I use a tippex pen to write on plug what it is. All chargers etc go in a box on our bedroom shelf so ds can't get his hands on them!

please?? or does everyone just have a tangled mess?

Tangles mess in our house. The area around the PC looks like Jodrell Bank. I can't work anything out - when I want to download photos from the camera, or use the webcam I am faced with a mass of USB leads. It scares me a lot little.

Hassled · 10/01/2011 10:26

We have a specific drawer. Anything which charges anything goes in there - it was a hideous mess for a while but I had a complete hissy fit trying to pull one out and eventually sat down and tied them all up in individual loops.

scurryfunge · 10/01/2011 10:28

I use one of the Lakeland drawer dividers that are supposed to be for socks but chargers fit well.

DH got me one of these for Christmas.

Previously we too had drawer of tangled leads.

Plumm · 10/01/2011 11:08

I've got a label makers so print out labels for everything (very helpful if I ever need to unplug the v box, playstation, wi fi, hundred other boxes from the TV).

Tootingbec · 11/01/2011 15:34

Bane of my life too.....I write and stick a label on each charger/connector etc saying what it is for and store the everyday ones (phones, camera etc) in a wooden box/drawer thing from IKEA in the kitchen and then anything else goes in a box in our living room where all the playstation/wii crap lives.

acumenin · 11/01/2011 17:23

I store them on an 8 plug gang lead, all plugged in (but not plugged into the wall), with a sticker on the plug saying what it is.

petitdonkey · 11/01/2011 17:27

We have one of these - it is fairly expensive but it has leads for all makes of mobile phones and it's brilliant. We keep the car keys on it too so we are never hunting about for them. It's also great as when guests come, it's amazing how often they have forgotten their charger and we always have one.

northender · 11/01/2011 17:37

I got these from Lakeland before Christmas and will definitely buy more. They're great as a cheaper option to stop the tangling.

ilythia · 11/01/2011 17:49

Tangled mess here, but ours are used all the time, we charge phones daily and laptops are plugged in overnight too.

Works ok until we go away anywhere and are faced with working out which need to come and how tf to get them out!

Bonsoir · 11/01/2011 17:51

In a very large transparent Ikea box, next to its twin that holds light bulbs. Stored at top of cupboard that has cleaning stuffs, vacuum cleaner etc.

Wind the leads round the charger.

MaeMobley · 11/01/2011 22:42

I was thinking of getting some of these: www.thecablelabelco.co.uk/index.htm

KangarooCaught · 11/01/2011 22:46

Ours are labelled but lke the idea of using the sock drawer tidy or similar. I love MN for this sort of thing Grin

KangarooCaught · 11/01/2011 22:49

The universal phone charger should be coming out soon(ish)

[useful contribution over]

rednose · 11/01/2011 22:50

We use an old garlic bread basket- keeps it all together
