Vacuum cleaners - Sebo or Miele?

as title really. Am thinking Miele Cat and Dog or Sebo AUTOMATIC-X4-PET. We're trying to decide which way to go. We have a great carpet shampooer and a Sanyo hoover that was great until we cracked the head 2 days ago. Ready to take it to the next level so as to maximise our carpet cleaning potential We have 2 VERY messy kids, I have long hair, and soon we'll have a kitten (gestating as I write!) not much in it price wise so putting it to the MN jury

Don't know specific models for Miele comes up time and time again as best buys/best everything in studies. Our compact Miele is a total gem, no problems in 6 years.

Our local electronics shop (which sells all makes) gushes about their Sebo (the one they keep themselves and use daily). Supposed to be very reliable.

Have had both - Sebo broke down after 4 years of abuse - it had a nice air cushion thing around it to protect furniture. Miele Allervac has been going strong for 2 years now. Suction on the Miele is stronger - too strong really, it's hard work vacuuming.

Miele cat and dog. Nothing can cope with my dog's hair apart from that. House feels so clean now

I love my Henry which picks up everything, including long hair and cat hair plus any sawdust etc my husband trails behind him.

wow thanks everyone. think I'm going to go with Miele cat and dog. My friend has a sebo and loves it but the reviews, compared with those for Miele, are a bit hit and miss.
now to convince DP to spend £190 on a hoover...

I've had both. Hated the Sebo and Love the Miele

We have a Miele to cope with 3 large dogs and a husband with asthma. . We love it, it's brilliant. DH's asthma is now actually better since we clean very thoroughly and very regularly, which we didn't so much before the dogs.

love my sebo, it deffinatly has build quality and very powerful. Have cylinder works a treat.

we got a miele special offer from debenhams to replace our john lewis one and it is really flimsy in comparison and doesn't have as much suck, so make sure you get a proper one.

have had both, have loved both - not sure there is a lot in it to be honest. Current is a sebo, previous was a miele.
