here we go again: problem with washing machine

Hello everyone, our washing machine has not been working very well, we set it to do a washing, it starts but then it stops all of a sudden, the dial stops going round half way through the wash. We can restart the wash by clicking it on manually (which is pretty annoying). Has anyone had a similar problem? TIA

Is there a filter that can be cleaned out? I found part of Ds1's tie in mine today when the machine conked out part way through a wash. (Mine has a warning light, so i knew it was the filter)

oh, mine is quite an old one, had a look but no idea where the filter is Confused

Filter on mine is at the front of the machine at the bottom. (just noticed you have a name with tortoise in too! I am normally just Tortoise but still have my Xmas name on lol!)

Yes had similar problem, there may be a bit of grit stuck in teeth of the disc, behind dial iyswim, try turning your dial around slowly a couple of times to dislodge it- worked with me!

LOL Tortoise, brilliant name Wink, just had a look again and no filter at the front of machine :-( don't think they would put anywhere else, would they? (BTW I have an old Indesit Omega 1200 if anyone out there have a similar model Hmm I will try to see if turning the disc slowly helps (really, really, really hoping it does). Don't want to spend money trying to get someone to have a look at it if I can help it... thank you very much for your advices Wink

If its anything to do with the teeth,a new disc is usually around a tenner-it'll be the 'fixers' call out charge that bumps it up!

Do you have a panel at the bottom of the machine?my mums indesit filter is behind that by the way..

bluetortoise · 03/01/2011 12:34

Ours does not have this front panel JK, but I have turned the dial a few times slowly and this seems to have made a difference. I have ran a load and it has run all the way through, so fingers crossed it keeps that way, thank you all very much for your very helpful suggestions, love it Grin
