Storing puzzles with broken boxes

Possibly the worlds most boring thread, but I've just been sorting out one of dc's cupboards and 90% of the puzzles have broken boxes. all of which have been fixed with cellotape and no longer be rescued.

My question is what is the solution? I don't want to throw them out, the puzzles are still fine but I can't cope with bits of puzzle floating around I could use food bags but wanted something a bit better. Should I go as far as getting tuppaware pots to put them in? I have a few already that would probably work. I thought I could maybe cut out the picture from the box and put it in the new box. Or is that too anal?!

Not anal at all. Makes sense if you don't want to throw puzzle away.

Colour photo copy of puzzle lid might be easier to store?

Use zippy folders - the kind childre get school reading books in sometimes. They are transparent and have a coloured zip along the top. A4 size. then you can sticky back a picture of the jigsaw on the front of the bag.

I use them at school where jigsaw boxes last about a day!

pink, my mum used food bags I think (born late 70's) but I also remember various household tatt things being stored in empty baby milk tins. sadly I no longer have babies but marg/ice cream tubs could work. although I wanted it sorted today as I'm notoriously bad at taking forever to get things done and didn't want to add this to my neverending list of jobs!

ah FAB idea, I know the zip-folders you mean. Brilliant, much better than tuppaware pots. I will see if I can find some later on my trip to asda. I suppose boxes last a nano second in a classroom!!

I have many fond memories of friends' jigsaws in massive Stork or ice cream tubs with the lid of the box sellotaped to the tub. It had never occurred to me to wonder why. Now I know. I too am a child of the 70's.

My mum has a thing about jigsaws so they were always pristine in our house. (Not allowed on the floor, always have to be finished, and so on) Put me off jigsaws for life and I had to fight the urge to repeat her behaviour with my own dcs. No idea what it was all about.

Zippy folders with a cut out bit of the box included, showing the picture. Works for all sorts of games that have flat pieces too. Get at least 25 and you'll be amazed at how many things you find to put in them and the secret joy it brings you .
