American fridge freezer purchase

Hi looking for an american fridge freezer for our new kitchen and wondered if anyone had any recommendatios or horror stories. am about to look at which too.

We've got one it's a Samsung and has been great.

The main thing to consider is what proportion fridge to freezer you need, our is 2/3 Fridge and 1/3 freezer, because we don't tend to use much frozen food, but because the whole thing is so big the freezer part is actually quite big.

Ours is this sort of style, you open the fridge and freezer separately freezer on top, it also has "door in Door", a mini fridge big enough for milk, butter and a bottle of pop/wine, which stops the temp droppping in the main fridge, good if you drink lots of tea/coffee and need the milk often.

The other thing to think about is whether you want a drinks cooler/ice machine, for which you need plumbing.

Also, you need a big enough door to get it into the house, and preferably not too many steps.

I've got a Maytag, which is fantastic.

We have a Siemens which is lovely (and has a plumbed in water dispenser which is fab)
BUT

I have to confess that given the decision again I would probably not go for an american style fridge freezer.

The width of the fridge is actually smaller than our old larder fride and I fine it a real pain - things like pizzas and bottles fill it up too quickly. Over Christmas it was impossible to put large plates/platters of e.g. starters/ cheese etc in as it wasn't wide enough!

We still have a normal width FF in the utility room for 'overflow' and I'm finding that I'm using it more and more these days
