Clothes washing liquid/dishwasher tabs, are own brands worth it?

I have always since lo's were babies bought fairy non bio liquid to wash their clothes in and comfort pure fabric conditioner as they have sensitive skin.

I am needing to cut a few corners in my shopping basket and wondered if there were cheaper brands that are recomended that are kind to skin and clothes that are cheaper?

Also I buy finish dishwasher tablets, are the own brand tabs ok?

Tesco value dishwasher tabs are brilliant, far better than Finish etc. I've been through the lot!

I tend to buy things when they are on offer, as it tends to work out cheaper than even own branded stuff.

I use comfort pure as none of the others smell as nice or seem as good. But I buy the huge bottles when they are on offer as 2 for £3. I use Persil non bio powder - they were on offer at 2 for £6 for huge boxes.

I use finish tablets - but look out in Tesco as they are often 100% free plus half price, so silly money.

I do my best to stock up when things are on offer also x

I use value washing powder and have done for years. It doesn't smell quite as strong as branded stuff. That's the only difference I've ever noticed.

Aldi cheap range dishwasher tablets also very good. They do two types its the basic cheap ones that I brought when finish weren't on offer and I've never looked back.

I didn't get on with Lidl washing tablets we got rashes, I'm currently trying Tesco liquid pouches and they've been good.

Tesco bio and non-bio concentrated liquid is great, as is tesco pure fabric conditioner.

schroeder · 23/12/2010 22:02

I always use own brands and they are all about the same.
I used to use the comfort pure-when I stopped noone noticed not even me; it's like I had just been pouring it down the sink for years.Shock

I don't have an aldi near me, never even been to one!

So Tesco value dishwasher tabs, and Tesco non bio liquid, and thier pure fabric conditioner the way to go then, thanks for your comments and experience x

My DP is allergic to everything. These days I use:

A bar of soap, grated, mixed with equal quantities of borax and washing soda

1tbsp per wash or 2tbsp for staining. You can use it on delicates. and it costs less than a penny a wash. It smells of nothing (and now scented laundry smells horrible to me, though I used to love it).
