Dishwasher next to radiator

We moved house last week, to a drafty end terrace. In the kitchen the dishwasher is next to the radiator, and for this reason DH thinks that we shouldn't have the radiator on- incase it melts the dishwasher or something I guess. However it is bloody freezing! Please someone advise that I'm okay to crank it up !

Dishwashers heat up water... they get hot. So would the dishwasher not be designed to withstand some heat?

Well that's my reasoning. Also, for example, in our old place in the front room we had the sofa in front of the radiator- that didn't catch on fire or anything...

It will also help stop the pipes in the kitchen freezing.

I wish my dishwasher was next to a radiator. The drainage pipe has frozen!
