washing a single duvet

hi, can i wash a single duvet in a 6kg washing machine or would i be better to go to the launderette.

it is a feather duvet, but it is potentially older than me, so no longer very thick. i would be surprised if it weighed 6kg, is that all i need to take into consideration?

thanks

jane

I would put it in the machine. We wash our single duvet and its a 5kg machine & pretty bulky duvet. You could always do an extra rinse and spin cycle to make sure no detergent left behind.

I would wash it in the duvet cover if it is an older one just to protect it, then take it out of the cover and air dry both seperately

thanks both. i was more worried about whether the washing machine could take it than whether the quilt would survive.

i will give it a go.

ha ha, i did it, then while it was drying i noticed it had a label on it with machine-washing instructions.
