has anyone tumbled one of these (i was thinking of doing it low heat) and survived to tell the tale? I know it SAYS do not tumble dry, and i am aware that they usually say these things for a good reason...

BUT, i have house guests coming tomorrow, said sofa is in our playroom/dining room and has just been smeared in yoghurt by dd (black sofa v strawberry petit filou- guess who won Hmm) i have just stuck it in the wash but need it back on the sofa along with the ability to sit on it without getting a wet arse by 11am.

Shall i give it a go?

No, don't risk it. Have you washed them before? They're a nightmare to get on dry. The tinyest bit of shrinkage and you'd be totally buggered.

TBH I could only ever get ours back on when wet anyway. It'll almost definitely dry overnight, if in doubt just iron it once it's back on the sofa.

Yes, I used to tumble mine, but it does shrink it a bit then it tears when you try to get it back onto the sofa. They're a terribly tight fit at the best of times, so can't afford to shrink really.

I just did it because I was in a hurry to dry it and they're just cheap, so I wasn't really worried about it tearing a bit.

Ours ripped too..

i've washed it before and mine is quite loose tbh, that's why i thought a bit of shrinkage wouldn't really hurt... but perhaps i'll drape it over something tonight and see how it is in the morning before taking drastic tumble drier related action Grin

Thanks all, ikea is three hours away so an emergency trip to get a spare cover is out of the question- Good job you warned me before i wrecked it Grin

Dry it over night, draped over something, preferably INFRONT of your tumble dryer, as hot air blown onto it will help.

If it is still damp tomorrow, iron it dry!

Can't you order a new klippan cover over the internet? Our Ikea is only half an hour away Grin

Do you have an Ikea Klippan Sofa? If so i need your help, I am currently creating an online arts event in which I am looking for owners of Klippan sofas to go to my events page on facebook and post up any information, tips and tricks on how best to wash the covers.
Many thanks www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=188836737807172
