Anyway of cleaning a leather handbag?

I have a lovely tan leather bag which has had a few things spilled on it over the year. Would a dry cleaners be able to sort it out or is there some other way of getting it back to its original condition?

you could try some neutral coloured leather cream (got some from jones for some expensive boots) and a soft cloth.
i'd wear rubber gloves tho as i did it with fingers as suggested in the shop and they dye came off on my hands!

Lakeland do a fantastic all purpose polish/cleaner called Urad or something similar. Quite expensive but works wonders on all kinds of leathers - I use on my tan handbag, shoes, leather sofa & DH leather car seats.

Saddle soap?

I'm going to be pessimistic and say give up. A client spilt a latte in to my handbag (direct hit, fell off edge of table on to / in to the bag). It was a write-off. I grit my teeth and smiled. I am still bitter - can you tell?

saddle soap is the best or if not a bit of bees wax. Dont use water as the leather will streatch and split.

My semi-feral cat piddled into my new Radley handbag . Dry cleaners don't clean bags (I asked) and as I would otherwise have had to throw the bag away I put it in the washing machine on a hand wash with a very gentle wool/silk detergent. Good as new amazingly.

When I bought a leather handbag the sales assistant told me you could clean it with body lotion.
