washing a charlie and lola doll!!

my dd has a lola doll that is fabric but has glued on material eyes that are a sort of plasticy material. the label said surface wash only but i have washed other soft toys before that said this and they have been fine. however because of the glued on eyes not sure what will happen this time! it is her favourite toy and the trauma would be too much if it goes pearshaped.

has anybody successfully washed one of these dolss. it now totally stinks which is why i have to wash it!!!

Perhaps wash it in a pillow case and if the eyes fall off glue them back on again

i think it is more the case the eyes might go all wrinkly in the wash but i am going to have to give it a go. can't tell you how badly it now stinks
