I have opened the door and turned it off, is there anything else I am meant to be doing to get rid of all the ice?! I am clueless but trying!!

Put some towels on the floor for leakage. Have you got a washing up bowl to put inside to collectvsome of the water? I keep going back to it to pull off bits of ice but it won't take long by itself.

I've done the towels, not the bowl will do that now!

I always put bowls of hot water inside to speed up defrosting and shut the door, and put a folded towel on the bottom inside to reduce the leakage.

If you have drawers, I tend to put a baking tray with a little boiling water in on the racks in between - that way it heats downwards as well as upwards.

ooh - that baking tray idea is a good one!
I just usually put bowls of boiling water in it. and the towel at the bottom
