because i can never keep on top of it.

things you need like statement,s bills, etc etc.

paperwork from DWP and tax credits

etc etc

all files get filled so quick, dont have room to store anymore.

how long should you keep paperwork?

why cant everything be done online and electronically?

Filing cabinet: ours has section for bank statements, pension, insurance, one for each car, pets, guarantees, everything...

Every now and then (about once a year), I go through and shred anything out of date. Bank statements, I think the rule is to keep for 5 yrs.

It can't all be done online because one day the whole internet might be deleted and then the banks will keep my money forever as their own Grin

Ignore. Ignore. Ignore.

Pay on final demands, or threats to get cut off. Pay penalties to the IR for late filing. Don't open any letters that look like bills/bank statements etc.

When paper mountain looks like taking over, sort through, and find cheques more than six months old, and Direct debits that should have been cancelled. Wish that I had tackelled it sooner.

I don't recommend this approach, by the way

A big, organised filing cabinet.

At the end of each year bundle up everything and stick it in a box file.

Only keep essential things. Go paper free with all your bank statements.

Nice to know I'm not the only one, Maryz!
