How many are you cooking for? You can buy something each week , cranberry sauce with this weeks shop , stuffing with next weeks etc

2 adults, 2 teens and 3 under 7's. None of the children big meat eaters so don't need huge bird.

Do you think the crowns are good value? I keep thinking about it but want to waste as little as poss obviously

Been buying sauces etc weekly, it does make a difference :)

thanks

buy all veg from a local greengrocer, much cheaper!

Chicken rather than turkey, might be cheaper? I actually prefer chicken anyway :)

Its better value and tastes better for have a proper turkey then use all the leftovers and freeze the breast meat.

Never a dry turkey here. You have to search for a better quality turkey with good fat on the breast. ie Kelly bronze. A hybrid white over large breast isnt a patch on these. Cook mine upside down aswell. Use sauagemeat stuffing. Do not follow the guidelines on cooking use common sence. Use a probe not follow 20mins Ib as thats hopeless. I cook mine 14ib - 16Ib 2.5hrs max. High first then 4 then high on fan. Perfect and very moist.

Portion control keeps price down, Just buy what you need. Very unlikely to do a three course for £20.
