Bedside lamp has started buzzing?

My bedside light, which I bought in September, has started making a buzzing noise and the energy saving long lasting bulb has conked out.Angry

I bought a new bulb today and it works, but is still buzzing. Am a bit scared to use it now.

Has any one any idea what's wrong with it?

I'm pretty sure I won't have the receipt as I got it from sainsburys as part of a big shop and have most likely chucked it. Do you think I could take it back?

Sorry to be so dull

Is the fitting loose inside the lamp that the bulb screws into?

The buzzing is probably the sound of arcing electric current jumping between the holder and the bulb or the wire and the holder. It might also be the switch.

We have one that does that and we just have to screw the bulb in tight.

The bulb is screwed in tight, it doesn't have a switch it's one of those stupid ones where you just touch the stem IYKWIM.

In that case defnitley take it back. There is probably a loose connection inside you cant fix.

By the way, have you tried the old bulb in another lamp? It might still be OK.
