I bought these about a month ago when there was talk that we would get a very bad winter (this January I couldn't go anywhere for several weeks). I haven't used them yet, sod's law, no snow here yet, but at least I am prepared now. I am mightily pleased to read that our local ambulance services have kitted out their vehicles with snow socks! First I tried to get winter tyres but apparently they didn't fit on my car and was also told that snow chains are not allowed on UK roads. So, if you are worried about getting stuck you may want to look into it. I got them through the internet, as my dealer was blissfully unaware of them. To order you need exact tyre size (which is written on the tyre) and type of car and all that. From the instructions it seems very easy to put on the tyres, but you will need to take them off it you come onto tarmac with no snow as they can otherwise get damaged.
