Glass oven door - trouble cleaning it

have searched on here for ovenpride related threads but haven't found one which mentions cleaning the glass door, so apologies for yet another OP related thread!

Ok, so I have done my racks, the inside of the over, which isn't fab, but better than it was. What I cannot shift is the burnt on fat on the glass door. I Mr Muscled it twice, no change, so then tired sponging OP on but not very successfully. Anyone else had a particularly manky oven door they have managed to clean with succes? Pretty please.

You need OvenMate - they sell it in Lakeland. Quite expensive (7.99) but is magic stuff and doesn't smell horrid either.

Steam is fantastic for loosening the really dried on fat.

Put a deep roasting tin in the oven on a hot fan setting fill almost to top with boiling water, leave for at least 15 mins on hot setting.

Turn fan off before you open oven door and stand back for a few moments whilst the steam escapes.

Lightly scour the glass - it will be really hot so you may want to hold the scourer in a tea towel or oven glove. It will no doubt be a bit gooey but will harden slowly again as it cools.

You may need to repeat this if its really stuck on grease.

Ovenmate is the business. Do be careful as you would any product as it is seriously strong stuff I have had a couple of chemical burns off it! But it will bring up the glass/oven no problem at all with minimal effort and no fumes as you get with Mr Muscle

i used brillo pads on mine,worked a treat:)

Wearing gloves, take a dishwashing tab, dip in hot water and rub over the surface. It will crumble a bit but keep working it in with a scourer. Repeat and leave for a few minutes. Wipe clean with a cloth rinsed in very hot water. Works a treat. Ditto for soaking pans etc. Approx cost, 11p.

My glass door slides out so i stuck it in the bag with racks and oven prided it haha, worked a treat! Sorry not much help if it doesnt slide out

Bar keepers freind (also lakeland) and wire wool worked on mine.

I love BKF though have heard it does degrade/attack certain surfaces. And you can get it in Sainsbury's now too.

Mr Muscle oven cleaner has always worked for me. Just wipes right off.

I use some pink hard paste in a pink plastic tub, called 'chemical cleaning paste'

Goodness knows where it came from. I use it with wire wool.

Instant success.

No heating or nasty stuff required.

I think it used to be called Astonish actually.

Another vote for Brillo pads, Cif cream is quite good also and lots of elbow grease.

(Recently moved into rented and nearly puked when looked inside oven - which had been 'cleaned'!)

I put mine in the dishwasher on a hot cycle.
