Any tips for removing lily pollen from a mostly cotton top

DH has just got lily pollen on his rugby shirt.

Any tips for removing it?

It's a heavy cotton red and white striped top - so I don't suppose bleaching it is an option.

Thanks in advance.

is it rubbed in? if so then theres not really much you can do-tis the most staining thing known to mankind. It will fade eventually however.

the best thing is to sellotape it off as soon as you see it.

Try rubbing White bread on the stain, it often works.

Sorry am shutting door after horse has bolted but.....when mine flower I cut out the stamens (?)....ie cut out the pollen-y sticks in the middle.

Solves the problem in future.

I know! DH normally does this too! It looks a bit rubbed in tbh - I did get him to Hoover it off - but didn't do much good. Haven't got any White bread at the moment - and too much snow out there right now - so might venture out a bit later!

Thank you for your tips :)

It will never come off.

God knows what is in pollen, but it stains to buggery.

I would suggest a pair of scissors Bear

For the top or the lillies?

What a pain. Still, not my top so I don't care all that much!!!

for the white bits, neat sterilising fluid on a cotton bud, then wash straght away so fluid doesn't bleed onto coloured bit. This worked for a turmeric stain, similar maybe?

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 30/11/2010 15:04

Hmmm. So Milton fluid, then?

Its risky but if the top's ruined anyway...

Try to Sellotape as much off as possible. Once it has got wet you're stuffed I'm afraid.
