Those who can't eat in the kitchen

Don't have a kitchen that we can eat in so it has to be at the living room table. But it does get yucky underneath. Do many folk have this problem and what do you do - I guess a washable rug under table to protect the carpet is the obvious answer but just feel a bit disadvantaged at not having a lovely kitchen to eat in - do most folk have a big enought kitchen for this? Hoping not so as to make me feel a bit better Smile

We eat dinner in the living room at the dining table most days.
When DD was little we used to put a big plastic mat under her seat and just shake/wipe it after meals.
Now we pick up quickly ... and hire a carpet shampooer twice a year Grin

No, I just hoover the carpet as often as I can.

When DD@s were small I had those nasty plastic mat things under their chairs but they always chucked their food far enough for it to hit the carpet anywayHmm

Annoying though, isn't it?

Other option is to get a dog....

we also eat in the dining room which is carpeted so we get all sorts of wierd and wonderful things stuck to the carpet too.

I have a dining room now with laminate flooring but used to have to eat in the living room in my last house. It wasn't even big enough for a table so it was a foldaway camping table for the dc and trays on laps for me and dh. I used to put a ground sheet under the dc to protect the carpet. I despised that house
