we have a port decanter that has white stains on the inside that we have tried to remove to no avail.

DH has used a few stain removers (but can't remember which?!) but its only taken about 10% of the stain away.

Please help me!!
What top tip can you share with me to remove it?

TIA

Kim and Aggie said pop white vinegar in with some rice, swill it around and it should get rid

ooh thanks cybbo
did they actually try it on a decanter or similar on a prog that you saw?

yup, white vinegar and rice. You need to shake it hard for a while but it definitely works.

cybbo · 21/11/2010 20:12

Yes I saw it with my very own eyes

ok so presumably thats white wine vinegar you're talking about and white rice?

so do you think its the starch from the rice with the vinegar that has "magical" properties?

No, not white wine vinegar, white vinegar, it's great for cleaning and descaling. the rice is just for abrasion, white or brown is fine Smile

or try denture tablets - they have a wee bit of citric acid in them.
