Am mighty pissed off as have just discovered my shoes, in bottom of wardrobe (an open canvas one, shoes off the floor). They are COVERED in mould: house is damp at the best of times but this is awful. It's my bedroom fgs, and I share it with my newborn.

HOW do I get it off: the smell is vile. Or am I resigned to binning them? Am gutted as v.expensive shoes. I thank god we're moving!

Any tips please, other than insulting landlord..Wink

Baby wipes are a great start followed by a good polish.

Ventilation and allowing air to circulate in a damp area is important. If stuff is piled up the damp will settle around it.

Do you regularly open a window in the day time to let the room ventilate? A couple of hours a day can make a big difference and let out all that moisture you produce over night.

You can pick up a second hand dehumidifier on ebay for £20ish. If the room is excessively damp this should help.

I do all the above: plenty of air etc.

Will try wipes: very thick mould inside though too..yuk. Thanks though.
