Would you store clothes in a shed?

Hello, I'm trying to clear some room in my very cluttered house and have loads of my sons clothes that will eventually be used by his younger brother but we do not have a loft. Would it be ok to keep them in black sacks in a shed it's dry and mouse free (at the moment)

I wouldn't put them in black bags.

If you could get some of those bags where you hoover all the air out then I think they'd be okay.

We stored some photographs in the shed, and even though it seemed dry and mouse free, the photos got ruined because it wasn't quite as dry as it appeared.

Have you got a good freind you could trust enough who has a boy that you could lend them to?

I've borrowed a load from a freind, she gets more things back that I've added to the collection and they arrive to her washed and ironed.

Great for saving space. Either that or under bed boxes might be better, sheds are never as dry as they appear to be in my experience.

Thanks for your replies, If my DH knew I was posting on the good housekeeping he'd fall over laughing. No close relatives, no room under any of the beds My house really is full to the brim and I need it all I just can't get rid of anything.

loft space?

Make sure they're bone dry, put them in plastic bags (hoover-the-air-out bags v good) and then in plastic boxes. They should be ok in the shed - they 'll get cold, but they won't get damp.

I don't have a loft so am always desparate for storage space. Our shed (formerly a playhouse) is packed to the roof with stuff. It's also dry and mouse free. I've never stored clothes in there but there are some rugs and a couple of duvets in vacuum bags. Mostly it's outgrown toys in boxes or sports equipment, cricket bags, football boots etc.

If you were worried about storing clothes in there could you choose something else to go in the shed and store the clothes in it's place IYSWIM?
