Getting paint off clothes

Been painting with both oil- and water-based paints and need to get the paint off my clothes. Worried that white spirit will ruin clothes.

Any tips for getting either sort of paint off?

some of the better quality gloss paints will come off with ordinary washing powder. try to get it off whilst still wet and lots of rubbing required. water based paints should not be too much of a problem with water and washing powder.

what does it say on the tin for washing brushes?

Ordinary hand soap rubbed in might work for both, and if oil-based is stubborn, WD40 is amazing stuff.
I'd do an overnight soak to finish. Good luck.
