my landlords leather sofa as well! 4 weeks before our check out inventory - i really need my deposit back.....help! Darn that stray biro and that naughty 2 year old! Angry

(Had high hopes for JLM's magic rubber which hasn't done anything unfortunately)

Any help really really appreciated.

Thank you x

very cheap hairspray lifts biro by disolving it. Works on clothes if you stick them in the wash, but lifted it straight off library book with shiny surface for us too... Blush...

do a test spot first though (disclaimer...!)

fraggletits · 11/11/2010 12:44

Thanks crabby, that's interesting will try a test patch

lanolin free wet wipes. i used them to get biro off a leather topped table. must be lanolin free though otherwise they'll leave a greasy mark. whatever you use, do a test patch in case it takes the colour out the leather.

i had an unsealed leather sofa .. DFS john lewis said oil of olay (the original pink one) rub in and in a few days it was gone (lord knows what it does to your skin !!)

Wordsonascreen · 11/11/2010 12:49

thats rub in every day btw

WD40 or stainslayer if hairspray doesnt work. Again do a stop test!

Dracschick · 11/11/2010 12:51

milk has gotten pen out of wool jumpers fake leather jackets and platic coated sportsbags ....must be full cream done with cotton wool though???

wd40 might be worth a try? and a polish with brown boot polish?

brassick · 11/11/2010 12:57

I remember hearing that milk removes biro, maybe worth a try?

fraggletits · 11/11/2010 12:58

well, i do have cheap hairspray readily to hand Blush and i can see it might do it, if I keep scrubbing and scrub the top layer of leather away as well.

Ok - lanolin free wipes, wd40 and pink oil of ulay next (that is bloody scary what it must do to your face if it can lift biro of leather!)

thank you thank you Confused

Did anything work? saving these tips up for later use...

Have you tried perfume squirted onto a cotton ball (do a colour test somewhere you can't see) It worked on mu sofa.

I second the WD40/hairspray combo.
