Mould on carpet - help!

I've just discovered that there is a patch of mould growing on the (cream) carpet under my DD high chair. We use a plastic sheet to cover the floor and earlier on I moved it to clean the sheet to be greeted with a dark black patch of mould - its disgusting. Its only been there a few days as that when I last cleaned the mat Blush Our house can be damp but hadn't released it was this bad. We are going to get a dehumidifier ASAP but wondered if anyone knew how to get mould out of the carpet.....any help gratefully received.

The only ways I know are a high temperature carpet cleaning machine with the appropriate detergent or if that doesn't work, bleach, which would probably ruin the carpet. You could try using carpet cleaner and really hot water (wearing rubber gloves) and scrubbing, but black mould sometimes leaves a greyish stain if you don't get it all out. You need to do it soon, as it will emit spores and spread, and don't let the baby near it if she's crawling.

You may end up losing the carpet, I'm afraid. Sad

that's what I feared Sad

She's walking but I've cornered it off with a chair so she can't get to it. I just tried scraping it to see if any would come off - wouldn't budge

Act soon, especially if it's humid. You don't want it spreading down into the backing.

Black mould is bad news...
