What sort of cake tin is this?

Ive been given a cake tin: round, 23cm/9" across, 11cm/4.5" tall.

I've never seen such a deep cake tin, other than a bundt tin. What would you bake in this tin - is it for a specific cake?

i would make a rich fruit cake in a tin that deep.

Could it be for a large/deep fruitcake? Wedding cake styley?

i would say a deep fruit cake yes

i have one exactly the same and that's what i use it for!

Rich heavy chocolate cake. (there's one in Nigella's How to Eat that suggests coking it in one big thing then slicing in two to put filling in the middle)

How ironic that, having made fruit cakes in my conventionally shallow tins year after year, I've been given a deep tin specifically for fruit cakes - just when I decided not to make a fruit cake this year!

I shall look for that rich choc cake recipe - thanks!
